PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man who was being taken to jail on a public intoxication charge found himself facing drug trafficking charges instead, once he arrived at the jail.

Kevin Eric Gillman, 59, of Belfry, was arrested Friday evening. He was asked by both the arresting officer and the jail whether he had any drugs or anything dangerous and said “no” both times.

But when he was searched at the jail, authorities allegedly found bags of heroin and anxiety medications in plastic bags in his pants leg.

Gillman now faces charges of promoting contraband, heroin trafficking, drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
