STAFFORDSVILLE, Ky. — One man is dead and another has been charged with murder, following a shooting Thursday afternoon in Johnson County.

Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to Salyers Hill, just off of Little Mudlick Road, in Staffordsville, just after 3 p.m., for a report of a shooting. Once there, they discovered 63-year-old Randy Salyer dead of an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Following an investigation, officers determined that Salyer had been in an argument with 64-year-old John Trimble, when Trimble allegedly shot him. Police say Salyer also had a gun.

Trimble was arrested and charged with murder.  He is being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
