SLADE, Ky. — A Pike County man is dead and another remains hospitalized following a crash involving two motorcycles.

Police say Randy Howell, of Pikeville, was heading west on the Mountain Parkway near the Slade exit, when he lost control of his bike and overturned. He died at the scene.

As the crash happened, Charles “Chuck” Roberts, of Pikeville, swerved to avoid Howell’s bike, causing his motorcycle to overturn. He was taken to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center, where he is being treated for unspecified injuries.

Roberts formerly worked for EKB and Mountain Top Media as an on-air personality.

The incident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.
