PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The Pike County Grand Jury has indicted six people in a scheme to smuggle drugs into the Pike County Detention Center. Two weeks ago, we told you about four people who were initially charged with promoting contraband after security cameras captured a failed attempt by inmates to lower a string through a hole drilled in the wall of the jail to two women waiting below with drugs and paraphernalia. But, in the two weeks since the investigation began, the number of people involved has increased and the charges they are facing have escalated. The Grand Jury indicted 27 year old Jordan Conn, 24 year old Scottie Gibson, 25 year old Randa Hamilton, 23 year old Shayla Stevens, 26 year old Jeffrey Kimmel and 25 yer old Tyler Thacker, all of Floyd County. All six are facing charges of attempted promoting contraband, second degree criminal mischief and engaging in a criminal syndicate, which carries a sentence of up to 20 years if convicted. All six are currently lodged in the Pike County Detention Center.
