McCARR, Ky. – Crews from six different fire departments spent much of the day on the scene of a fire in Pike County. Around noon, a fire was reported at Tony’s Body Shop in McCarr, which spread to multiple buildings and ignited more than 200 tires. Blackberry Fire department was the first to respond, but called for assistance from Matewan, Belfry, Upper Pond, Phelps and Coal Run departments. Pike County Emergency Management officials were also on scene due to the nature of the fire, and have been in contact with the Kentucky state emergency operations center. Officials say the fire remained under control throughout the day, and no nearby structures were damaged.
