UPDATE: BEVINSVILLE, Ky. — Court records now reveal the identity of the student taken into custody for the gun and bomb threats at Floyd Central High School.
Jacob Johnson, 18, of Bevinsville, was arrested around 11:30 Sunday night and charged with second-degree terroristic threatening and bomb threats.
The police report notes that Kentucky State Police obtained evidence that Johnson was responsible for the threats. Officers seized his electronic devices when he was arrested.
ORIGINAL STORY: EASTERN, Ky. — The Floyd County School District says there will be a heightened law enforcement presence at schools Monday morning, following a series of threats posted on social media over the weekend.
Mountain Top News has reviewed numerous posts threatening to take guns and bombs to Floyd Central High School. Police have determined that the threats were made by one student using another student’s name. The district says the responsible student has been taken into custody by Kentucky State Police.
The district says additional officers will be at local schools “out of an abundance of caution.”
