PIKEVILLE, Ky. A Knott County man with a history of drug arrests now faces his most serious charges yet, after being indicted by a federal grand jury.
Tony Minor, 45, of Pippa Passes, is now charged with possession of more than 50 grams of meth and more than 40 grams of fentanyl with the intent to distribute it. He is also charged with using a gun in a drug crime and felon in possession of a gun.
The charges stem from a Feb. 10 incident in which Minor was allegedly involved in a police chase with a state trooper, which led to the discovery of a large amount of meth, fentanyl, pills and marijuana in his home.
The drug charge typically carries a prison sentence of between 5 and 40 years. However, because Minor was convicted of drug trafficking in 2014, he now faces a sentence of between 10 years and life in prison.
In addition to his previous conviction, Minor was also arrested in Floyd County back in October, after Drago the police dog led the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office to its largest-ever heroin seizure.
Minor is currently being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail in Hazard, but will face trial on the federal charges in Pikeville.
