MARTIN, KY.– Back in the summer, we told you about a Floyd County teacher who was reported missing. She was later found safe, but now she is facing legal trouble. EKB News Reporter Shawn Allen has the story.
It’s not uncommon for schools to request that K-9 drug sniffing dogs be brought into the schools to make sure that drugs are kept out. However, what is uncommon is where drugs were allegedly found here at the Renaissance Learning Center in the city of Martin and who allegedly had them.
“We went to the Renaissance Learning Center to do a sweep with the K-9’s for drugs in the school. Upon completion of the search of the school we went out to the parking lot to sweep the parking lot. While checking vehicles, my K-9 Drago indicated on the driver’s side door of a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon further investigation we some loose leaf marijuana laying in the floorboard and a clear pipe with some white residue inside. At this time the pipe has been sent off to the KSP crime lab for testing. The suspect is going to be special needs teacher Raquel Cain, she’s employed by the school. That subject also had 2 active bench warrants which were also served. The investigation is still open at this time.”
Raquel Cain was arrested and charged with 1st degree possession of a controlled substance and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
