PIKEVILLE, Ky. — Two people were arrested after two young girls were found in an apartment, dirty and crying.

Pikeville Police were called to an apartment on Northgate Drive, where a woman reported that a young girl had been frantically banging on her door. Police went to another apartment, where they could hear two young girls crying, but no one would answer the door.

After letting themselves inside, they found a 4-year-old girl crying in a bedroom. When they asked her why she was crying, she said because a man was hiding under her bed. That’s when police found 20-year-old Harley Tubbs under the bed.

They also found a 5-year-old girl in another bedroom.

The children’s mother, 31-year-old Stephanie Lynch, then returned home and explained she had asked Tubbs to watch the girls while she left for an hour.

Police searched the house and reported finding meth and drug paraphernalia.

The mother was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, while Tubbs was charged with wanton endangerment. Both also face drug charges.
