
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Unemployment has fallen in 115 counties across Kentucky, but remains high Eastern Kentucky. That’s the takeaway from the latest county figures released Thursday by the Kentucky Center for Statistics.
Martin County had the state’s highest unemployment rate, at 9.5 percent. Magoffin County had the second-highest, at 9.1 percent.
Elsewhere across the region, Pike County had an unemployment rate of 6.5 percent, while Floyd County was at 6.7 percent. Johnson County was at 6.9 percent, Knott County was at 7.2 percent and Letcher County was at 6.2 percent.
Oldham, Shelby and Woodford counties had the state’s lowest unemployment, at 4 percent.
Statewide, the unemployment was at 4.9 percent.
