The University of Pikeville’s Alumni Association will be hosting its inaugural “Bear the 99” 5K race on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019. The race will begin and end on Benefactor’s Plaza, located at the top of UPIKE’s iconic 99 steps. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The City of Pikeville, along with Joel Thornbury, has mapped a new and unique course specifically for this race. Each registered participant will receive a beautiful commemorative medal and a t-shirt which will display event sponsors on the back.
