Before daylight Monday morning, vandals attacked the construction zone on US 23 around the Penny Road intersection in Pike County.  Signs were stolen, and barrels were damaged or destroyed on both north and southbound lanes of the road.  Highway District 12 officials say their crews were out early Monday morning helping to replace barrels until the contractor, Mountain Enterprises, could get replacement equipment to the site.  Mountain Enterprises officials say they are working with the Kentucky State Police, and intend to fully prosecute those responsible.
