McClure, VA — A coal mine accident has sent one miner to the hospital. According to the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, the accident occurred around 5:00 AM this morning at the Contura Deep Mine 41 which is located near McClure in Dickenson County. Initial information indicates the worker, who not been identified, was working on a roof bolting machine and suffered a severe arm injury. The miner was flown to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center where his condition is unknown. Contura Deep Mine 41 employs 328 workers.
