Coeburn, VA — A Coeburn, Virginia man must spend six months behind bars after his five children were found living in disgusting conditions. 51-year-old Carl Dean Wagner pleaded no contest to five counts of child endangerment. He was sentenced to five years in prison, with four and a half suspended. Wagner must also complete 15 years of probation and perform 100 hours of community service. Authorities responded to Wagner’s house in October 2018 and discovered the house had a nauseating odor, which included maggots, dirty diapers, feces, urine, rotting garbage, unwashed dishes, rotten food, and disarray throughout the home. The children were taken by the department of social services.
