Walmart tells area first responders ‘#UMatter2Me’

Walmart recently let area first responders know they “matter.”

Representatives from Pikeville and Whitesburg Walmart visited the Pikeville Police Department, Pikeville Fire/Rescue Department, Kentucky State Police Post 9 in Pikeville, the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office and the Whitesburg Police Department and City Hall to present first responders with a cake thanking them for serving their communities. The cake read “#UMatter2Me.”

Pikeville Walmart Store Manager Roger Collier was joined by Walmart Support Manager Quion Lee in making the presentations to Pikeville police and fire/rescue personnel, as well as to KSP Post 9 personnel. Collier and Lee joined Whitesburg Walmart Store Manager Kevin Wright in presenting cakes to the Whitesburg Police Department and the Letcher County Sheriff’s Office.

The “#UMatter2Me” campaign has been used by Walmart to showcase goodwill and those who serve their communities, including first responders and essential works, such as Walmart employees. It has also been used to showcase unity in communities.
