WHEELWRIGHT, Ky. — One Floyd County community will see upgrades to its water system, under a grant announced Monday by U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell and Congressman Hal Rogers.
The city of Wheelwright has been awarded more than $770,000 to assist in replacing its water treatment plant. The new plant is expected to help provide a consistent clean water source for residents, as well as support operations of Southeast Kentucky Correction Center. That prison previously closed in part due to inadequate water and sewer service.
The money is being awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
