WillCon set for this weekend

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — The Williamson Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting the second WillCon event this weekend.

WillCon is a pop culture and entertainment convention held at the Historic Williamson Memorial Field House. The event will take place on Saturday, August 4th, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and will feature at least 50 vendors. The event will also feature local artists, archery tag, a Fortnite dance-off challenge, a live action role-play demonstration, escape rooms, concessions, music, games and much more.

“The purpose of WillCon was to give, kids especially, exposure to things they haven’t seen before,” said co-organizer Jim Pajarillo.

“We have tried to expand our offerings this year,” added co-organizer Chris Dotson. “Last year was our first time trying this out. It was new to us to host this type of event. We were so excited with the turn out last year and the participation. This year we did want to step it up a little bit more … give a little bit more offerings. If you came last year, come with high expectations because it’s going to be wonderful.”

Admission is $5, and children 10 and under get in free. For more information, visit willconevent.com or WillCon 2018 on Facebook.
