UPDATE, 4 p.m.: The Wise County Sheriff’s Office has released more information on the case, including the victim’s identity.

The body of Shelly Collene Hamilton, 57, was found in the Rock Switch area of Wise County Monday evening.

Her body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an examination to determine the exact manner and cause of death.

The investigation is continuing.

WISE, Va. — The Wise County Sheriff’s Office reports that a woman’s body was found Monday evening.

According to a statement released by the office, the woman’s body was found in the Guest River area of the county. Police have not released the woman’s identity or any additional details about the case, but said they would provide more information when it is appropriate.
