Woman accused of assault with a vehicle

GARRETT, Ky. — A Knott County woman was arrested Monday night, after police say she used her car to assault another woman in Floyd County.

Deputies responded just after 6 p.m. to a report of a hit-and-run at Ready Mart in Garrett. When they arrived, a woman told them that she had an ongoing dispute with Candi Roberts, 43, of Topmost.

She then said Roberts got behind her while she was driving, and when the woman pulled over and got out of her car, Roberts rammed her car with her own. She said Roberts then allegedly backed up and hit the woman with her car and fled.

Roberts turned herself in to police a short time later. She has been charged with second-degree assault, which is a felony punishable by 5-to-10 years in prison, as well as a misdemeanor count of leaving the scene of an accident.
