Woman Sentenced Trying To Smuggle Drugs Into Prison

Wise, VA — A woman, who tried to smuggle drugs into a prison was sentenced yesterday in Virginia. According to authorities, 47-year-old Joyce Ann Wine of Norton, Virginia, was sentenced to six years, with four suspended. She will also have to complete two year of probation. Wine was convicted of trying to smuggle drugs into the Wallens Ridge State Prison in Big Stone Gap to a prisoner. Wine pleaded guilty to felony delivery of marijuana and misdemeanor delivery of contraband to an inmate at a correctional facility. A corrections officer conducted a search of Wine and found five small balloons in her clothing containing marijuana and tobacco.
