WELCH, W.Va. — A 2-year-old boy is the third flooding-related death reported in West Virginia.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey confirmed the news, WOWK reported on Wednesday.
The child’s guardians, Donald and Debby Griffin, both 69, of Welch, were the other two deaths reported in the state.
The family was driving through high water when their truck was washed away into the Tug Fork, WOWK reported. Two girls were also in the truck but they escaped and were rescued.
Kentucky has reported 14 deaths due to flooding, including three men from Pike County and one man from Floyd County.
