5,000 free meals to be served in Pikeville on Thanksgiving

PIKEVILLE, Ky. –  With Thanksgiving two days away, many families are making last minute plans for dinner. However, several churches in Pike County have come together to make sure those who cannot afford it can still enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner.  This is the third year for the Community Thanksgiving dinner in Pikeville that offers free meals to anyone who needs it. Organizers say the group of churches, collectively called, “One Church,” were able to come up with funding to provide 5,000 meals, and they don’t want to miss anyone.  Adam Akers, pastor of Liberty Freewill Baptist Church in Pikeville,  says there are other churches from surrounding counties planning to come this year to see if they could offer a similar service next year in the county where they live.
