
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — An Eastern Kentucky school teacher is being remembered for the impact she had on her students and coworkers, following her death from COVID-19.
Joannie Bartley, 29, of Pikeville, a middle school math teacher at Jenkins Independent, died on Monday at Pikeville Medical Center.
Jenkins Supt. Damian Johnson told the Associated Press that Bartley was a wonderful person who was dedicated to teaching her students. Johnson also said that Bartley had been vaccinated and was meticulous about wearing mask.
The wife of Adam Bartley, she was a graduate of East Ridge High School, the University of Pikeville and Eastern Kentucky University.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o’clock Friday, at Pleasant Valley Church.
