PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Two men are in jail, after a call about a suspicious vehicle led police in Johnson County to a drug find.

It all began with a call from a Paintsville resident who reported a suspicious vehicle parked outside his home. The resident told police he was afraid the car was occupied by people known to deal drugs in the area.

A state trooper later found the car parked at a car wash, with Jaylon Ivey, 21, of Roseville, Michigan, sitting inside.

The trooper then allegedly found bags of heroin, 49 oxycodone tablets and 47 Xanax bars in his coat pocket, along

with $500 in cash. He was arrested on three counts of drug trafficking.

When asked if there was anyone else with him, Ivey said a white man had been with him, but he didn’t know the man’s name or where he went.

A Johnson County sheriff’s deputy later found the white man previously with Ivey, identified as Ronald Wheeler, 47, of Salyersville. He was arrested on two outstanding warrants and was then allegedly found with a small bag of meth in his pocket when he was taken to the jail. Wheeler is now charged with promoting contraband.

Both men remain in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
