RICHMOND, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear joined the Kentucky Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation and the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond Thursday to pay tribute to police officers who have died in the line of duty.

During the ceremony, the names of seven officers killed over the past year were added to the memorial.
The names included one officer from out area, Floyd County Deputy Oliver Little.

Little was in the process of transferring to the Pikeville Police Department when he contracted COVID in the line of duty. He died Oct. 31.

Five historical names were also added to the memorial, including two from the Big Sandy region. They include Pikeville Police Officer Alonzo Robinson, who was shot to death while serving a warrant in 1929, and Floyd County Deputy Marion Layne, who was shot and killed while investigating a shooting in 1939.
