HAZARD, Ky. — Community Trust Bank is investing in the future of the Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky and its mission to bring the very best educational experiences to the region’s students.
Funding from Community Trust has provided additional opportunities for students visiting the Center and especially for the Center’s school-centered Outreach programs. CLKY Outreach delivers mobile science, technology, engineering and math activities to underserved communities across the region.
“Community Trust is certainly giving back to the community and their support is impacting our future leaders,” CLKY operations manager Charles Bush said.
As a not-for-profit organization, community support is a vital component for the growth and maintenance of the Center, and Community Trust has played a role in the Center’s progress. Before last year’s capital campaign public launch, Community Trust sponsored CLCKY Summer Enrichment Programs, where students stay academically active during the summer months.
“The Challenger Learning Center is a jewel, right here in the heart of southeastern Kentucky,” Hazard market president Charlene Miller said. “Community Trust Bank is proud to be involved with the educational mission of the Center. We believe that STEM careers will play a huge role in the future economy of our region and that students participating in Challenger Center programs today will be the leaders in bringing about that future.”
The Challenger Learning Center of Kentucky has been inspiring young people in the communities they serve for over 23 years. With nearly a quarter of a million students cycling through the Center during the years, it has evolved with progressive technologies and curriculum that give students a cutting-edge educational experience and a more focused glimpse into the careers that will be available to them in their future. It is, and always will be, the Center’s mission to engage students and teachers in dynamic, hands-on exploration and discovery opportunities that strengthen knowledge in STEM, inspiring students to pursue careers in these fields, and providing an outlet to learn and apply important life skills.
The Challenger Learning Center’s “Continue the Mission” campaign is ongoing, and you can make your donation today at clcky.com. You can stay informed by following the center’s Facebook page, @ChallengerKentucky.
