PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man facing several traffic violations found himself in even greater trouble Thursday, after he allegedly showed up for court under the influence.
Derick Slone, 38, of Raccoon, was scheduled to appear for hearings in several traffic cases. But officers noticed when he walked into the courtroom that he appeared very unsteady on his feet.
A deputy asked Slone to perform three sobriety tests, and he reportedly failed two of them. Slone was placed under arrest and the deputy found several pills while searching him.
As he was being taken to a holding cell, Slone allegedly began resisting and trying to fight the officer, and threatened to kill several officers.
He is now charged with assaulting an officer, public intoxication, drug possession and several other charges.
