PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County man indicted on child porn charges earlier this month has been held without bond since he was first arrested back in December.

On Friday, a special judge filling in on the case allowed him to go free without bond.
Avery Newsome, 38, of Grethel, is currently charged with three counts of possession of child porn involving a victim younger than 12 years old.
When police raided his home Dec. 27, they seized 18 electronic devices and at least 3,500 files suspected to contain child pornography. During an interview with police, court records say he gave a full confession.
Newsome was indicted on Feb. 7, and he appeared in Floyd Circuit Court Friday for arraignment. After he entered a not guilty plea, court records show that Special Judge Tom Smith released him from jail on his own recognizance. He was ordered not to have contact with any witnesses or victims in the case.
Newsome is next due back in court for a pretrial conference June 19.
