PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man will now answer allegations from a year ago that he stabbed a woman, following his release from jail for a probation violation.

Johnny Gibson, 50, of Virgie, is charged with second-degree assault and persistent felony offender.
Last February, police were called to a home in Virgie, after a woman called 911 to report she had been stabbed. When police arrived on the scene, they found the woman with a belt and bandages wrapped around her leg.
The woman told police she and Gibson had been in an argument, and she was afraid, because he had been physical with her in the past when they argued. She said she grabbed a knife to protect herself, but that Gibson took it from her and stabbed her with it.
Gibson said he was trying to get the knife away from her when he accidentally stabbed her in the leg.
Gibson was indicted on the charges back in October, but he was jailed at the time for a probation violation from a drug charge in Lawrence County.
He has arrested on the indictment warrant Thursday and is being held in the Pike County Detention Center on a $5,000 cash bond.
