RANSOM, Ky. — A Pike County fire department is mourning the loss of a long-serving member.

Carl Edward “Buddy” Fields, 70, of Ransom, died at his home on Friday.

Fields served as a member of Blackberry Volunteer Fire Department for 34 years, most recently as president and safety officer.

Visitation for Fields will take place at 5 p.m., Saturday, at Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church, with a special service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, at the church, with Gary Hatfield and Roger Bogar officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery.

Services are being handled by R.E. Rogers Funeral Home.
