PIKEVILLE, Ky. — One of two Ohio residents arrested for meth trafficking back in March after Kentucky State Police found more than 2 lbs. of meth in their car during a traffic stop is now staring at a potential life sentence in federal court.
Makayla Garner, 21, and Anttwan Freeman, 23, both of Akron, Ohio, were arrested March 12 when the car Garner was driving was pulled over for going 3 mph over the speed limit and the drugs were discovered.
Freeman has now been indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of possessing more than 500 grams of meth with the intent to distribute. If convicted, he will face a sentence of between 10 years and life in prison.
Garner’s case remains in Johnson Circuit Court. She is scheduled to enter a guilty plea Jan. 10.
