STOPOVER, Ky. — A man who allegedly got away from police more than two weeks ago is now in jail.
Back on Nov. 21, a state trooper spotted a pickup truck with no license plate and a broken windshield, with a four-wheeler following close behind. The officer attempted to pull over the truck, but both vehicles fled along Widows Branch, then onto an old strip job.
Eventually, the driver of the truck jumped out, got on the four-wheeler, and got away from the officer.
The trooper found a wallet inside the truck identifying the driver as David Cook, 23, of Stopover. Several bags of fentanyl and a set of scales were also found in the truck, and the officer said a gun was tossed out of the truck during the chase and later recovered.
Early Tuesday morning, Cook was arrested. He is now charged with felony counts of fentanyl trafficking and fleeing police, along with numerous traffic violations.
