ASHLAND, Ky. — A trial date has been set for a Johnson County man who reportedly confessed to using hidden cameras to secretly record a 15-year-old girl showering and dressing.

Henry Jonathan Ritscher, 43, of Paintsville, is facing federal charges of producing and possessing child pornography.

The case came to light after the girl discovered a video of herself on his phone. The girl later told authorities she had stayed at Ritscher’s home that day, as she had on multiple occasions. She said she went with him to pick up pizza, and while she waited in the car, she used his phone and found the video.

During a search of Ritscher’s home, police seized his cell phone and found several surveillance cameras hidden in a tote in the garage. When questioned about the cameras, Ritscher said he dismantled and hid them because he anticipated police would be coming to talk to him.

The police report says Ritscher gave a full confession to police, saying he had been secretly recording the girl for about a year-and-a-half, solely for his own sexual fantasies.

Ritscher appeared in Ashland federal court last week and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The judge set his case for trial on Jan. 12, in Ashland.
