PIKEVILLE, Ky. — With two weeks to go before the Democratic primary decides Pike County’s race for judge-executive, the campaign is shaping up to be an expensive one.
Incumbent Judge Ray Jones and challenger Prentis Adkins have combined to raise and spend nearly a quarter of a million dollars.
The latest campaign finance reports show each man to have spent more than $100,000 on the race.
Jones has a narrow advantage in fundraising with $139,000, compared to $108,000 for Adkins.
Adkins has largely funded his campaign himself, contributing more than $75,000 to the effort.
All of the money on Jones’ report comes from donations.
Both men have very little left for the final stretch of the campaign, without additional donations. The reports show Jones has about $6,600 left in his campaign account, compared to about $3,300 for Adkins.
