Belfry Breakdown: A Big Commitment and a Tough Road Loss

It’s Monday sports fans, so that means it’s time for your Belfry Breakdown brought to you by Thornhill Automotive.

Belfry Pirates offensive lineman Bo Wolford has made it official – he’s committed to continue his football career at Morehead State University. Wolford, standing 6-foot-3 and 297 pounds, had also drawn scholarship interest from schools including UPIKE, Georgetown, Ottawa College, and Defiance College.

Among his honors, Wolford was named the Kentucky Football Coaches Association Coach Philip Haywood Lineman of the Year, recognizing the state’s top lineman. Posting on Twitter, he said, “I am grateful to say that I am 100% committed! Thank you to all the coaches and staff that have impacted my life on this recruiting journey!”

The Pirates finished 12-2 last season, capturing the 2A District 8 title, the 2A Regional championship, and making it to the 2A semi-state round.

Summing up his announcement, Wolford said, “I am excited to be able to start a new chapter of my life at a place that feels like home!”

In boys basketball, Belfry dropped a close one Saturday night, 73-68 at Lewis County.

Tune in next week for more updates on Belfry athletics thanks to our friends at Thornhill Automotive.
