PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A man who drowned Friday evening at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park has been identified.

Floyd County Coroner Greg Nelson identified the man as Damon Adams, 22, of Prestonsburg.

At 7:22 p.m., Friday, a caller to 911 reported seeing Adams swimming at Dewey Lake, then go under and not resurface.That prompted a massive response from Prestonsburg Fire Department, Prestonsburg Police, the Floyd County Rescue Squad, Floyd County Emergency Management, the Deparment of Fish and Wildlife Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

At 8:48 p.m., first responders located Adams’ body at the bottom of the lake’s main channel.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has jurisdiction over all incidents on Kentucky waterways and is continuing to investigate.
