Efforts to recover from last summer’s flooding in Pike and Floyd counties got a boost, thanks to grants from the Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Jim and Suzie Savage, with the conference, presented checks worth $5,000 each to the long-term recovery groups in each county. The seed grants are earmarked for the startup costs of each group.

The conference is working with eight affected counties.
