SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — The attorney for a Magoffin County man accused of sex crimes involving incest says his client is “devastated” following his indictment, despite having passed a lie detector test.

Gary Matthew Blanton, 34, of Salyersville, was indicted earlier this month on two counts of incest and single counts of sodomy, rape and sexual abuse. But his attorney, Timothy Parker, of Prestonsburg, released a statement reminding the public of his client’s presumption of innocence.

Parker says when his the allegations were first made, Kentucky State Police asked him to submit to a polygraph test. Parker says Blanton agreed immediately agreed and passed, “with a finding of no deception in his answers.”

Blanton is scheduled to be arraigned on the indictment July 3. He is currently being held in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.
