Peaceful protest scheduled in Whitesburg, KY

WHITESBURG, Ky. – A peaceful protest has been planned for Friday, June 12 in Downtown Whitesburg, Kentucky.

According to a Facebook post from the Whitesburg Police Department, this event will begin at 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM starting in front of the Letcher County Courthouse and proceed to Whitesburg City Hall on East Main Street, then ending back at the courthouse.

Road closures will begin at approximately 5:30 PM on Friday and if you are not participating in the protest or if you do not live in town, you will have to find an alternate route through, the post says.

For the safety of the public and officers, these items will be prohibited during the protest :

  • Backpacks
  • Large Purses
  • Signs that are attached to any objects (wood, metal, etc)
  • Derogatory signs
