JACKSON, Ky. — Former Breathitt County Sheriff Ray Clemons has come under scrutiny once again, following an audit of his final year in office.
The audit found many problems from previous years still remain, but also noted at least one new one.
State Auditor Mike Harmon found that Clemons continued paying his bookkeeper more than 20-thousand dollars after he left office.
The audit also notes that more than 47-hundred dollars in disallowed expenses from previous years still haven’t been repaid, and Clemons still hasn’t settled his books for his last four years in office.
Harmon is referring many of his findings to the Breathitt County Attorney’s Office.
