INEZ, Ky. — For the second time in less than a year, Martin County is without a leader.
Judge-Executive Victor Slone died on Sunday. Last month, he announced he would not run in the next election, after his health began to decline following a years-long battle with cancer.
Slone had only been judge since April, when he was appointed to the position following the sudden resignation of former Judge-Executive Bill Davis.
Prior to his appointment, Slone had worked as a teacher and was elected magistrate five times.
Victor Slone was 57 years old.
