Beshear declares state of emergency

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall over the weekend.

The governor’s order allows the state to mobilize to help communities affected by flooding.

So far, Paintsville and Salyersville have declared emergencies, along with 13 counties around the state, including Breathitt, Johnson, Knott, Magoffin, Perry and Pike.

The National Guard has also been activated to assist in responding to high-water emergencies.
