Betsy Layne High School staff member tests positive for COVID-19

FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (MTN) — A Betsy Layne High School staff member has tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials with Floyd County Schools and the local health department are saying that Betsy Layne High School volleyball and golf, Betsy Layne Elementary Middle School girls basketball, Betsy Layne Middle School volleyball and Betsy Layne Middle School cheer practices and matches are suspended for 14 days.

Additionally, they are recommending that parents monitor their students for any symptoms and if symptoms become evident, it is recommended that the parent takes their student for testing.

School and health officials are saying that all other sports may proceed with practice and that the faculty member who did test positive was not involved in any back-to-school events, such as device distribution, held by the schools.
