PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A worker in the Floyd County road department has been arrested for allegedly stealing tools from work and pawning them.
The Floyd County Fiscal Court contacted Prestonsburg Police about Daniel Darby, 40, of Prestonsburg, allegedly taking the items.
Detective Dennis Hutchison investigated and discovered that Darby allegedly went to one pawn shop back in February and pawned a socket set, then returned a few hours to pawn two impact guns. At another pawn shop, he allegedly pawned a tablet code reader. The total value of the items was more than $1,100.
When Hutchison contacted Darby about the thefts on Friday, he reportedly admitted pawning the items, saying he needed money and intended to pay it back.
Darby was arrested and charged with felony theft, which is punishable by 1-to-5 years in prison.
