Body identified as missing woman; cause of death ruled homicide

Clara Morgan O’Brien

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The state Medical Examiner’s Office has conclusively identified a body found Sunday at Lick Creek as Clara Morgan O’Brien, 39, of Fedscreek.

O’Brien had been missing since Dec. 18. Her body was found near the home of Chadwick Hunt, 44.

Hunt reportedly told authorities that O’Brien had died at his home and he moved her body outside. However, O’Brien’s death has now been ruled a homicide.

Hunt is currently jailed in the Pike County Detention Center on charges of abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. There is no word yet on whether he could be charged with O’Brien’s death, but police say the investigation is continuing.

Hunt is the estranged husband of another Pike County woman who was reported missing earlier this year.

Valorie Hunt, 39, was reported missing in August, after last contacting her family from a Lick Creek residence on July 30. Family members have since told Mountain Top News that she was at Chadwick Hunt’s home when she contacted them.

At this time, there is no indication Chadwick Hunt had any involvement in his wife’s disappearance.

He is currently being held on a $25,000 full-cash bond.

No hearings have yet been set in the case.
