PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — The search for a Pikeville man has come to a tragic end, after he was identified as the body found last week in the Big Sandy River, in Prestonsburg.
Prestonsburg Police, Prestonsburg Fire and Kentucky State Police recovered the body last Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Kentucky State Police confirmed the body’s identity as Gordon Terry McKinney, 54, of Harold.
McKinney was last seen May 8, but his car was found at a garage last Wednesday, prompting an intensive search of the area. His body was found that afternoon, a short distance from where his car was found.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
