The Morgan County Cougars picked up a hard-fought road win Tuesday night, edging Raceland 71-66 to improve their standing on the season.
Morgan County had three players finish the night in double figures, with Asher Gamble leading the charge. Gamble poured in 23 points, shooting 50 percent from the field, 57.1 percent from three-point range, and knocking down every free throw attempt.
Grayson Hampton followed with 14 points and also led the Cougars on the glass with six rebounds. Hampton shot an efficient 60 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. Parker Trusty rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 60 percent from three-point range.
As a team, Morgan County was sharp offensively, shooting 50.9 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent at the free throw line. The Cougars finished the night with 24 rebounds.
The win moves Morgan County to 8-8 on the season. The Cougars will look to keep the momentum going Saturday, Jan. 24, when they travel to Russell for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
