The East Ridge Lady Warriors opened their season with a 46–35 victory over Richlands, Va., on Wednesday night.
Sophomore Kourtlee Keene turned in a standout performance, finishing with 18 points, 13 steals, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the win. She was followed by eighth grader Alena Dotson, who added 7 points and a strong 13 rebounds.
East Ridge will return to action Monday when they travel to Pike County Central to face the Lady Hawks.
Pike Central enters the matchup at 0–1 after falling to Grundy, Va., 66–50 on Wednesday. The Lady Hawks had three players finish in double figures.
Senior Larah Stanley led the effort with 15 points and seven rebounds, shooting 36.4 percent from the field, 50 percent from three and 5-for-6 at the line.
She was followed by Kamryn Akers with 13 points on 41.7 percent shooting, including 37.5 percent from three.
Cydney Snodgrass added 12 points while shooting 28.6 percent from the floor.
East Ridge and Pike Central will square off Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Hawks Nest.
