Each week Mountain Top Sports will begin highlighting some of the great things happening with Belfry Athletics. This new feature will be our “Belfry Breakdown” sponsored by our friends at Thornhill Automotive. You can also catch it on the airwaves of Mountain Top Sports on Monday mornings.
This week we start on the gridiron, where Belfry senior lineman Bo Wolford is bringing home some major hardware. Wolford was recently named the inaugural Coach Philip Haywood Lineman of the Year, awarded by the Kentucky Football Coaches Association to the top lineman in the entire state.
Wolford received the honor during a presentation at Belfry High School on Wednesday, December 17, with KFCA Executive Director Jeff Marksberry on hand for the ceremony. The senior standout is also drawing plenty of attention at the next level, with college offers from Georgetown, UPIKE, Ottawa College, and Defiance College.
On the hardwood, the Belfry boys basketball team rolled to an 84–46 win over Buckhorn on Saturday at the Mountain Schoolboy Classic. Meanwhile, the Lady Pirates battled tough competition at the Mike Bromagen Lady Cat Legend Classic, falling to Menifee County, Boyle County, and Mason County.
And don’t forget, Mountain Top Sports has a recent episode of Courtside out, featuring Belfry Basketball Coach Brent Perry. You can catch it on the Mountain Top TV app.
