BOYS SOCCER: LETCHER CENTRAL TOPS PERRY CENTRAL & OTHER AREA SCORES

The Letcher Central Cougars pulled out a gritty 1-0 road win over Perry Central on Tuesday night.

Freshman Xyler Sexton delivered the game’s only goal, finishing off an assist from Hunter Kendrick. In net, William Bolling anchored the defense with four saves to secure the shutout.

With the victory, the Cougars improved to 5-4 on the season. They’ll be back in action Sept. 11, when they host Knott Central at 8 p.m.

Around the region Tuesday, Prestonsburg rolled past Pike Central 8-0, Lawrence County blanked Shelby Valley 8-0, Hazard and Johnson Central battled to a 2-2 draw, and Jenkins topped Buckhorn 3-0.
